WEEKLY COMPANY REHEARSAL & INFO FOR THE WEEK OF 2/3/2020

Here is the company schedule for this week:

Sr. Company - Regular company class/rehearsal time on Thursday, February 6th from 7pm - 9pm and Saturday, February 8th from 10am - 12pm

Jr. Company - Regular company class/rehearsal time on Wednesday, February 5th from 6pm - 7pm and Saturday, February 8th from 12pm - 1:30pm

Mini Company - Regular company/class time on Thursday, February 6th from 5pm - 6pm.

Reminder - This Saturday there will be a photographer taking candid photos during regular classes and company class times.  Please come dressed looking sharp on this day.

Disneyland

Ticket orders are due this Friday, February 7th. Ticket forms are available at the front desk or can be emailed upon request.

As previously mentioned we will be handling costuming different than in the past years. All performers will wear a black leotard and black legging and just change tops over their leotard.

We will be ordering leotards for ALL dancers.  The cost of these leotards will be $22.95 plus tax and due on February 15th.

Dancers can use their own leggings, preferably lycra or spandex and full length.  If you would like us to order a pair please let us know.

We will also be ordering sequin tops for both Jr. and Sr. Company.  These tops will be $38 plus tax and also due on February 15th.

Tops for Jr. Company will be the red sequin tops that they use for Christmas.  Most dancers have these already.  We will only order for those that need them.

Tops for Sr. Company will be a gold sequin top.  

We will run these fees automatically on February 15th unless you let us know otherwise.

WEEKLY COMPANY REHEARSALS & INFO FOR THE WEEK OF 1/27/2020

Here is the company schedule for this week:

Sr. Company - Regular class/rehearsal time on Thursday, January 30th from 7pm - 9pm and Saturday, February 1st from 10am - 12pm.

Jr. Company - Regular class/rehearsal time on Wednesday, January 29th from 6pm - 7pm and Saturday, February 1st from 12pm - 1:30pm.

Mini Company - Regular class/rehearsal time on Thursday, January 30th from 5pm - 6pm.

Disneyland Info
Jr. & Sr. Company will be learning a majority of the dances performing at Disneyland during company class/rehearsal time so attendance is very important.  Along w/ class time here are a few other important dates for Disneyland:

• Ticket orders due - Friday, February 7, 2020
• DRESS REHEARSAL for all dancers  - Saturday, March 7th from 11am - 1pm
• Parent Meeting - Saturday, March 7th from 1pm - 1:30pm (One parent MUST attend this meeting)

Costuming for Disneyland will be simple.  All dancers will wear a black leotard and black leggings and use different tops for each number that can be changed easily.

Along w/ the costuming all Jr. & Sr. dancers will need a company jacket as part of their uniform. These are the Adidas jackets that most have.  For those new to company and don't have this jacket we will send you an email w/ more details.  If your danceR has outgrown their jacket and you need a new one please let us know.

Last Call for CRU

Thank you to those that have responded to competing at CRU.  If you are still interested in competing at this competition and have not let us know please do so asap.  Fees are due this Friday so we can meet the registration deadline.

Candid Class Photos Rescheduled for Saturday, February 8, 2020

The rescheduling of candid photos during classes will be done on Saturday, February 8, 2020.  We will send a reminder as this date approaches but please mark your calendars.

Reminder - Cathy Roe's Ultimate Dance Competition
Please email us if your dancer has a solo, duet or trio you would like to compete at CRU.  This competition is held at Skyline High School and the dates are Friday, February 28 - Sunday, March 1st. Fees are as follows:

Solo - $110 (Ultimate Title $135)
Duet/Trio - $76 per dancer

These fees are due by Friday,  January 31st. 

Disneyland Ticket Orders
Ticket orders for Disneyland are due on or before Friday, February 7th.  Please let us know if you need the order form resent to you.  We also have copies at the front desk.

Recical 2020 - "17" & Costume Deposits
Company information for Recital 2020 - "17" was emailed last week.  Please read this information thoroughly and note all important dates.  Costume deposit are due this Saturday, January 18th.  Jr. & Sr. company will have 2 company deposits. We will run costume deposits with the card on file unless you let us know otherwise.

Solos, Duets & Trios at Cathy Roe's Ultimate Dance Competition
For those with a solo, duet or trio and are interested in competing at Cathy Roe's Ultimate Dance please reply to this email.  This competition is scheduled for Friday, Feb 28 - Sunday, Mar 1, 2020 and held at Skyline High School in Mesa, Az.  Fees are as follows:

Solo - $110 (Ultimate Title - $135)
Duet/Trio - $76 per dancer

Happy New Year and Welcome Back!

Here is the rehearsal schedule for this week:

Thursday, January 9th from 7pm - 9pm
SUNS/24K Dress Rehearsal - This is a full dress rehearsal - all costume parts, shoes, hair and make-up.  Hair style is a low ponytail.  Girls please wear a black sports bra or black tank top underneath your jersey.

Mini Company - Regular company class on Thursday, January 9th.

Jr. Company - Regular company class on Wednesday, January 8th and Saturday, January 11th.

Sr. Company - Regular company class on Saturday, January 11th.

Additional SUNS Information
We still have a few waivers that need to be completed and turned in and tickets that need to be picked up.  If you haven't done either one of these please stop by the front desk as soon as possible.

Arrival & Meeting Info - Please arrive at the Talking Stick Arena no later than 7pm on Friday, January 10th.  Please allow yourself enough time for traffic and parking.  All dancers and guests are able to watch the first quarter.  At the beginning of the second quarter all dancers need to meet behind section 114.  Shortly after our SUNS representative will escort dancers and DSD staff only to our holding spot before our performance.  

Feel free to take as many pictures and record the performance!  

After they have performed we will be escorted back to behind section 114.  Parents will pick up their dancers here.  Parents - please notify a staff member that you are taking your child.

Here are a couple other notes:

· Please arrive in costume! Warm ups over the costume are fine. 

· Small bags are OK if needed, but will have to be checked by security – please no glitter or aerosol hair spray cans.

· Parking garages are located all around the center...please remember to bring cash for parking.

· Please do not bring in your own drink or food.  

If you have any other questions regarding our halftime performance please don't hesitate to ask.

Disneyland

Ticket order forms for Disneyland were emailed to Jr. and Sr. Company before break.  

If you need the order form resent to you please let us know.                     

Reminder - If you are booking a room at Tropicana Inn & Suite the deadline to reserve

your room at the group rate is this Saturday, January 11, 2020.  Please let us know if 

you need this info resent to you.

Producton 2020 "17"

costume deposits.

Winter Break
The studio will be closed for Winter Break from Sunday, December 22nd - Sunday, January 5th.  Regular classes will resume on Monday, January 6, 2020! 

Please remember that there is SUNS rehearsal on Saturday, January 4th from 10am - 1pm.

Holiday Festival
Desert Star Dance's 5th Annual Holiday Festival is this Saturday, December 14th from 3pm - 6pm at the studio. We are looking forward to all company and class performances!  If you are not performing this weekend please come out and join us in the festivities.

SUNS - Waiver, Tickets and Shoes
We are still in need of waivers to be turned in.  If you have not turned in your waiver please do so as soon as possible.  

Tickets will be ready to hand out next week.  They will need to be signed for upon receiving.

Shoes have been decided on for this number.  All of Mini company and Daniela A. & Gracie H. will need black low top Converse.  Here is a picture:

All other dancers will need the white Nikes w/ the black swoosh.  These are the same shoes used for MJ last year.  For those who need to get these here is a picture and we suggest getting them as soon as possible.  They are called Nike Roshe and here is a picture:

There is also a Nike Tanjun that is very similar that would also work:

Note from Sherry - I recently bought some but was unable to find them in the size I needed w/ the black swoosh.  I purchased them w/ a white swoosh and will fill in the swoosh w/ black.  This would be fine too.  I found them at JCP.
