2017 COMPANY AUDITIONS

Desert Star Dance Company Auditions 

Sunday June 11, 2017




Little Stars ages 5-7  
Audition time is: 11am on Sunday June 11, 2017
Little Stars is our mini company. Dancers must be turning 5 by September 1, 2017
3 classes required (ballet, jazz, and company rehearsal class) but we recommend 4 to 5 hours per week. 

Junior Starz - ages 7-10
Audition time is: Noon on Sunday June 11, 2017
5 classes are required. Ballet, Jazz, Rehearsal class, and 2 elective. 
We recommend hip hop and taking additional classes. 

Tween Co. - Ages 9-13
Audition time is: 1pm Sunday June 11, 2017
6 classes are required. 2 Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Rehearsal Class. 
We recommend taking unlimited classes.

Desert Star Dancers - (Ages 13-18)
Audition time is: 2pm Sunday June 11, 2017
  • Unlimited Classes required
  • Each other group number will have a separate rehearsal/choreography fee.
  • Rehearsal/choreography fees are paid for separately from monthly tuition and each number is priced differently according to the size of the group, the choreographer, etc. 
  • Rehearsals will be held on Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and/or occasionally Sundays. 
  • Rehearsals will be scheduled by the choreographer and studio director. A rehearsal schedule will be made available as early as possible and posted to our blog. 
  • Rehearsals fees are not included in monthly tuition.

Dream Big Show Tips


Frequently Asked Questions and Tips for a Great Show!


  • Dress Rehearsal and the show are at Mesquite High School Auditorium located on McQueen Rd. just North of Warner Rd. Please wear your full costume to dress rehearsal as well as hair and make up.
  • Please arrive at the theater 30 minutes prior to the show (and your scheduled dress rehearsal) with hair and make up neatly done and costume on (or ready to be put on). We will take care of the students backstage and in the wings. It helps when you groom them.
  • Please put your name on all shoes and costume parts. That way if they are lost, we can return them to you.
  • Bring a cover up and/or a change of clothes. We appreciate that the kids do not wear their costume in the audience, especially before the performance. It it theater etiquette not to wear a costume in the auditorium. 
  • Do not record any of the dancers and/or choreography during dress rehearsal or the show. Professional DVD's of the show will be available for purchase. We find that even when your child is in only one dance, they enjoy watching the entire show for years to come! 
  • Please do not take flash photography during the show! We have a photographer scheduled to take pictures. Some will be made available online for purchase, and others will be available from the studio. Also, flash photography ruins the lighting that we create.  Photos are ok during dress rehearsal.
  •  Please avoid the backstage area unless you are a parent helper. Drop your child off with us 
     and return to the auditorium. Do not try to get to the auditorium from the stage. Please go outside and  enter from the front or go through the hallways to the other side entrance. DO NOT go onstage. Parents are not allowed in the wings.
  • Please do not shout out in the black outs between numbers. Out of respect for the theater and fellow audience members—we do not allow shouting during blackouts. We would appreciate you holding your   enthusiasm until the end of a number. Tell everyone in your group to refrain from shouting in the black outs.
  • Please turn OFF cell phones during the show. The lights and noise from your phone are distracting and you won't want to miss any of the show.
  • If the baby is crying, please step out into the lobby, unless of course your child is on stage or in the next number. As a courtesy to others, we hope you will take a moment to soothe the baby in private.

AND FOR OUR DANCERS TO HAVE THE BEST POSSIBLE EXPERIENCE.
